COMPILATION PROJECT TO INCLUDE WINANS PHASE 2, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER, JACI VELASQUEZ, AND MORE WITH THE OFFICIAL THEME SONG OF "WORLD YOUTH DAY 2000," RELEASING JULY 18TH

NASHVILLE, TN: One, the official recording of World Youth Day 2000, is set to hit streets on Myrrh Records July 18th, 2000.

World Youth Day 2000, the 15th in a series of events begun by Pope John Paul II in 1985, is expected to draw 1.5 million Christian youth representing almost every nation on earth to Rome, Italy August 15-20 for a season of prayer, praise and fellowship. The weeklong event is part of a worldwide celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the incarnation of Christ.

One will celebrate the World Youth Day 2000 theme of unity through eleven original and favorite Christian songs. A highlight among these is "Emmanuel," the official hymn of World Youth Day 2000, included on the album in both it's original Italian version and its English international version.

Among the acclaimed producers participating in One are Rodney Jerkins, Rudy Perez, Rick Elias, Monroe Jones, Mark Heimermann, Dan Posthuma, Brent Bourgeois, Steve Taylor, David Rolfe, Loren Dawson, and Jay Healy. The project includes cuts by such respected Christian artists as Sixpence None the Richer, Jaci Velasquez, Winans Phase 2, Salvador, A Ragamuffin Band, Burlap to Cashmere, and newcomer Gabriel's Harp.

One also includes three exclusive duets on the original songs "Peace Has Broken Out," with Maire Brennan and Irish singer/songwriter Booley; "The Last Supper," with Cindy Morgan and Universal Latin Records recording artist Luis Fonsi; and "There Is Still a Dream," with GRAMMY Award-winner Aaron Neville and Rachael Lampa. Sixpence None the Richer offers an exclusive new mix of its hit song "Love," from the group's platinum-selling, self-titled release.

The album also includes such popular Christian songs as "Basic Instructions" (Burlap to Cashmere), "It's Alright (Send Me)" (Winans Phase 2), and "Il Tuo Strumento," the Italian-language version of the song "Make Me an Instrument" (A Ragamuffin Band), among other songs.

One was made possible by an unprecedented agreement between the Italian Committee for World Youth Day 2000 (GMG) and Gaylord Entertainment, with its divisions Word Entertainment and Gaylord Digital. Chuck Nelson, vice president of creative and artist development for Word Entertainment, led the effort to build the new relationship between Word Entertainment and the Church.

"One opens a door for believers to unite together across racial, national and denominational barriers, under one banner of faith," Nelson says. "This album carries the same message of Christ's love to anyone who picks it up, and should find an audience among all who follow Christ, both Catholics and evangelical Christians."

"We see One as a strategic opportunity to introduce Catholic consumers, most of whom are unaware of what Christian music has to offer them, to the wide range of Christian retail products available," says Jim Chaffee, vice president and general manager of Myrrh Records. "We are very excited about the opportunity to introduce Catholic teens to a whole new genre of music that can bring hope and a positive message to this next generation of believers."

One will be marketed primarily in conjunction with the World Youth Day 2000 event. Marketing efforts for One will focus around street promotions during the conference, and aggressive Internet promotions prior to, during and after the conference headed by Musicforce.com and its parent company, Gaylord Digital. Gaylord Digital will also launch and support the site www.worldyouthday.com, which will offer One for sale through Musicforce.com. National media and marketing campaigns will concentrate on both Christian and Catholic outlets, in the U.S. and internationally. The first radio single from the project, "Heart of Every Man," by Gabriel's Harp, is currently impacting AC and Inspirational Christian radio.

A Ragamuffin Band and Gabriel's Harp have been appearing in concert on a promotional tour for One, with select dates in the U.S. and Europe in April and May, as well as performances in Paris, France at the Cathedral of Notre Dame, and in Strasbourg, France in June. A primary purpose at these events is to teach the hymn "Emmanuel" to youth prior to the gathering in Rome.
